About The Website

BURNING HEARTgif.gif
This website was built by James (JIMMY) Sims as a substitute for a desire to have a   BLACK HALL OF FAME for Minden or at least a billboard sign entering the city to honor people like  WORLD FAMOUS LOU DUNBAR and PERCY MAYFIELD.  My desire has been to someday entice someone in Minden to take on the idea and make it happen.  Realizing that there are also some famous WHITE people from Minden as well, this idea became somewhat of an issue to make it a BLACK thing and not include famous WHITES and call it MINDEN HALL OF FAME instead.  When casually discussing it with several individuals, someone mentioned as a suggestion that there be a WEBSTER PARISH HALL OF FAME to include other famous individuals who are from the local surrounding areas throughout the parish.  Therefore, for several years the idea was never discussed again because of the complexity involved.  However, as an alternative to a similar idea I had of a WEBSTER HIGH SCHOOL Hall Of FAME, I recently built a website,"Webster High School - THE LEGACY" to commemorate my now defunct Alma Mater and donated it in order to KEEP THE LEGACY ALIVE.  Therefore, I came up with the idea to do something similar and call it MINDEN BLACK CULTURE WALL OF FAME.  This website gives recognition for MINDEN FAME on a local level, as well as, FAMOUS BLACKS  from MINDEN on a higher level of fame and include the entire BLACK CULTURE in Minden.  This also includes all walks of life in the entire black community of Minden through the years.

I will start out with my personal memory and certainly will need input from others, especially since I have not lived in Minden since I graduated from high school in 1958 and entered into the Air Force and made a 21 year career of it.  However, I kept abreast of much of Minden's growth through my periodic visits back home and via constant communications with individuals back home.
